we invite you to the i-HTS Spring Scientific Meeting 2023 in Brussels. i-HTS is honoured to be able to host this meeting on 18th and 19th of April in the facilities of the Delegation of the Basque Country for the European Union. Together with experts from all over the world, we are looking forward to the topic of ATMP4ALL - How to raise awareness, equal access and trust in complex therapies in Europe?
Who is international HealthTechScan?
international HealthTechScan (i-HTS) is the global forum for global scientific co-operation in the area of Horizon Scanning and Disinvestment. Each year two major scientific meeting take place in different locations of the world. Scientific meetings are one of the proven formats of scientific exchange that are not only open for members of the network but also external partners and interested parties. The aim of scientific meetings is to meet in locations that generates an environment of free floating of ideas, creativity, and trust.
What is the topic?
Disparities and inequalities in screening, diagnostics, treatment and rehabilitation are major public health issues in Europe that have serious implications for individual and population health. Despite significant progress in healthcare delivery, there remain significant disparities in access to care and outcomes across different population groups in Europe. In addition, Europe is now facing a new era of opportunities to promote health of European citizens. Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMP) that use gene, cell and tissue engineering technologies to treat complex disease. This leads us to new challenges. In a united Europe, we are faced with the question of how to organise care for rare diseases so that quality of life and longevity do not depend on where we live and who we are. As Europe we are aiming to provide access to essential health services and medicines for to all citizens when and where they need them, without facing financial barriers. What we need to achieve this is awareness to technologies and health needs that are coming and the requirements of stakeholders to drive the real engine of innovation: Trust.
The objective of this meeting is to discuss and identify strategies for raising awareness, promoting equal access and building trust in complex therapies across Europe. This meeting is designed for professionals and stakeholders in the field of health including policy makers, researchers, clinicians, regulators, patient representatives, and industry leaders. The meeting will provide a forum for discussion and exchange of ideas on how to promote greater understanding and acceptance of these complex therapies. Let's sharpen our pencils to draw a joint way forward!
